I've been studying ancient Greek sculptures for anatomy/pose reference. I find there's so much information about form, so much character in the faces. Plus it's a lot easier to project a personality into a painting when using the sculptures as opposed to photo reference of people.
Of course it's always best to use a live model wherever possible.
